Center For Electrolysis
Frequently Asked Questions
What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that uses a tiny probe and electric current to destroy hair follicles. It's the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal.
Is electrolysis really permanent?
Yes. When performed correctly, electrolysis prevents future hair growth from the treated follicles. Multiple sessions are typically required to catch all hairs in their growth cycle.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies based on the area, hair thickness, and individual hair growth cycles. Most clients will need to come in for regular treatments for 1-2 years before every hair in the treatment area is permanently removed.
Is the treatment painful?
You may feel a mild heat, pinch, or stinging sensation. Discomfort levels vary by person and treatment area. Numbing creams and cold compresses can help manage sensitivity.
Does electrolysis work for all skin tones and hair types?
Yes! Unlike laser, electrolysis is effective on all skin colors and all hair types, including light, fine, or grey hair.
Which areas can be treated?
Everywhere except the inside of the nose and ears!
Common treatment areas include:
-
Face (upper lip, chin, eyebrows)
-
Underarms
-
Bikini line
-
Abdomen
-
Chest
-
Back
-
Fingers & toes
How should I prepare for a session?
-
Do not tweeze or wax for at least 2 weeks prior
-
Avoid caffeine the day of your appointment
-
Come with clean, makeup-free skin
-
Hydrate well to help reduce discomfort
What should I avoid after treatment?
-
Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the area
-
No sun exposure, heavy sweating, or swimming for 24–48 hours
-
Use soothing aftercare products (aloe vera, neosporin) as advised
-
Avoid makeup or harsh products for 24 hours on treated areas
Are there any side effects?
Temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity is normal. Scabbing or pigmentation changes are rare and usually preventable with proper aftercare.
How much does it cost?
Prices vary by area and session length. Our sessions range from $55-$130, with total treatment cost depending on the number of sessions needed.
